The Last Stretch

Was looking through my december calendar yesterday, and I realized that despite the initial plan to take a break for the month....nothing really happened. Busy month pa rin. Mostly work because of transactions that had to be closed before the year ends. Inis the mahabang holiday break! Anyhooch...will post December shebang soon!

Happy Holidays, everyone! Cheers!

From Hairspray to Another Weekend Getaway

Watched Hairspray last Friday, 28 November 2008 with Ma’am Pok and Honey “the closet wild girl” Lopue. It was another amazing race-ish adventure for me as we struggled our way to find the right theatre. Anyways, Hairspray was really entertaining. As in super laugh the three of us during most parts of the musical. Michael De Mesa was super kaaliw and super galling. Sayang nga lang, the sound system wasn’t yata in tiptop shape mejo sabog ang tunog at times. Inis actually because some of the lines didn’t come out clear, the actors had great singing voices pa naman. At any rate, we enjoyed the show!! Kudos!

After the show, I was off to another weekend getaway.

Background: Two weeks ago, Lil Pok and I planned on going to Baguio. Why? For Volante’s pizza lang. Seriously! Haha. Sarap daw kasi eh, so I got curious. Anyways, in the two weeks that passed by, Ida and Jonah decided to go with us (Carla and Cuz din dapat, but basta they weren’t na able to come). By the time Lil Pok met up with me and Ida in Ortigas, kasama na rin pala si Iya.

The Roadtrip Begins:

It was 1-ish in the morning when we left for Baguio. Crazy laughing during the entire Edsa stretch of the trip up to Pampanga part. Come Tarlac (or maybe even before), I fell asleep already. Pagoda tragedy na, hello galing pa ako sa Hairspray!! Contrary to pop belief, napapagod din ako noh.

First Stop: Baguio City

Headed straight to Volante for the much-awaited pizza! Yeah, we arrived early but kevs, Volante is open 24 hours!! The pizza was delish and not expensive ha. Must try their smoked salmon pizza. As in. Super worth it ang trip to Baguio! Can’t wait to go back.

After Volante, we had coffee at CafĂ© by the Ruins, ukay visit for a bit (and believe it or not, I didn’t buy anything) then off to the second leg of the roadtrip na. I think we spent roughly 3 hours lang in Baguio! Lav ettttt.

Second Stop: Manaoag, Pangasinan

Before zzzzing my way to Baguio, I had to remind Lil Pok that I need to pass by Manaoag. Basta I needed to go. Lil Pok responded by asking, “Sis, ano ba pupuntahan natin dun, as in si Our Lady?” I didn’t really have the chance to think, so bigla ko nalang natanong…”Bakit, meron bang ‘our boy’?”

In Manaoag we all lit candles and said our respective prayers. At one point super silent kami when we got back sa car. Then I think we started discussing the gist of our prayers/petitions. Mainly they were all about forgiveness. And peace. Yeah, peace.

Third Stop: Gerona, Tarlac

Next stop, Isdaan in Tarlac. We were hungry again kasi and I seriously wanted to take a shot at the famous Tacsiapo wall. Ewan ko ba, initially kasi I actually thought I still needed to throw a couple of plates and saucers just to release all the anger that I may still have within my system unknowingly. Oh, but no….kerri lang. Tapon to death kayo jan, I was just really hungry. Angry? No longer. I was a bit surprised actually.

Anyways, Isdaan? Good food, bad service. Tagal ng food grabe! Place is great for picture taking though.

Final Stop: Angeles City, Pampanga

Kapagod na!!! By the time we reached Fontana (where we planned to spend the night), we were all ready to just chill and drink the night away. Fun fun fun!!!

Pahabol Stop: Trinoma, Quezon City

Since we couldn’t agree on where to have lunch the following day, Jonah decided we should just starve ourselves to death until we reach Manila. So there Pepper Steak food trip!!!

I got home around 7pm. Tired but still in high spirits due to the fun fun fun weekend that we had. And due to the fact that 1 December is a non-working holiday. Cheers!

Cake Mania will resume shortly

It could be fatigue. She's been baking and baking for weeks now due to the voluminous orders that were placed. Can’t blame her loyal customers because she’s really good at what she does. She makes super yummy cakes and pastries to the point that I got addicted to the goodies.

High fever for days. Mother didn’t have any other choice but to bring her to the hospital. Ayan confined ang baker.

The avid fans of Faye’s cakes and pastries can’t wait to place additional orders. And I miss your chewy bars already!

Get well soon, Kolokots! We’re all praying for your quick recovery!

Pok Pressure High in Tagaytay

Kat and Jonah picked us (Me and Gee Jay) up at Warehouse around 10pm. On the way na to Tagaytay! Another spontaneous trip, actually. Carla invited us kasi to her house but since she also had gimik that night, she asked us to go ahead nalang then she’ll follow nalang daw. Hay ang bruha, didn’t naman show up! How weird is that?! A weekend getaway without the host!! Haha.

We arrived around 11ish then met up with Vane and Jeffrey. Super chill lang sa house. By 2am, Cesar, Tang Tang, Mike, Mina, Steph and Liz joined in. Alcohol and chika. And we had so much fun!!!! Yun nga lang, we missed Ma’m Pok (formerly known as Ate Pok). Workaholic na kasi! We had the party going until around 5:30pm the following day. Had so much fun, rockstars!!

By the time I got home, was kinda tired already but still had enough energy to have a couple of drinks @ Kei’s birthday party! Chika chika lang about cruel boyfriends vs. the good ones. Then RJ had to bring me home already as I was too tired na talaga and needed rest. Lotsa work waiting pa for the following day!!!

Another wow weekend for me!

For the Love of my Daughters

20 November 2008

Meeting galore to the max! I had 3 meetings scheduled that day. As in sunod sunod ha! Come 6pm, I was too poofed already and ready to go home for much-needed zzzzs. I was a bit depressed pa that day. I can’t help but think of the following: Poma having so much fun in Singapore, Momsy and Big Daddy spending fun time with their new baby Tajito, Grace and Mike busy with their honeymoon, and me drowning in work. Hay, mind and body needed na to go home, but no way, I can’t allow that. It’s my daughter Tammy’s birthday and I have to be there for the surprise birthday shebang that her friends prepared for her. I can’t miss that, as in no! This is my daughter’s birthday we’re talking about!

The party was at 9pm pa so I met up with Lil Pok and Ye at Greenbelt around 6:30pm for a couple of rounds. After that, I went back to the office to finish some work and then gora na to Dencio’s Powerplant for the surprise party. Super happy that my daughter enjoyed what her friends prepared for her. And super proud that all of my daughters were there that night! Happy Birthday, Bee!

22 November 2008

I never really thought I can still attend Regina Iustitiae’s VERDICT @ Warehouse. Super exhausted due to the busy week that was and I had to be in Tagaytay that night pa. But what can I do, my daughter Nicka was in charge of the event and it was my daughter Hazel’s birthday din! Shempre ang loving momsy, di kaya na di magpakita to her daughters. I hope they appreciated my presence despite the fact that I did an early exit. Dramatic! Hahah. As Sam would say, ‘mas maaga ka pa umalis kesa kay Cinderella’.

Well, despite the short amount of time that I spent there, I can say that the party rocked. Grabe, totoo nga, every year is Regina’s year!! Congratulations for a job well done, sisses!

I’m so proud of you, Nicka!

Happy Birthday, Hazel!

Hello, Tajito!

So Big Daddy Taps texted me last Tuesday, 18 November, saying that Tajito is out already! And yay, yay, thank God that everyone is okay!

The following day, paid visit to the nicest and most cooperative (according to Momsy) little boy in the world. Super dooper cute this Tajito!!!! And clap clap clap to Momsy, so unlike other just-gave-birth women I’ve witnessed! Super lively and madaldal as usual.

Congratulations to Momsy and Big Daddy!

Shetttttt gusto ko na ng ganito!!!!

Disturbia

From Mike and Grace’s wedding, Ida and I had to rush to her house to pick up Iya and change outfit. Of course naman, dapat comfy ang outfit for the Rihanna-Chris Brown concert! Upon reaching Fort, we met up with Carla, Cuz, Kat and Karen (aka Josephine). Too bad wasn’t able to meet up with sisses anymore because the venue was super packed already and we got in late na. Truth is, we arrived at the Fort early pa, but since super dooper hungry kami ni Ida (note that we didn’t get the chance to attend the wedding reception), we had dinner first at Claw Daddy. So ayun.

In fairness, the concert was okay naman. Cute pala si Chris Brown, hihi. Kainis lang the crowd was boring. Napa-comment tuloy si Mareng Riri why daw the audience was so quiet! Kaloka. As in feeling ko, in our area, kami lang yung scream and dance to death. Bum bum bee dum bum bum bee dum bum-ing ever!!! And of course, kebs sa deadmatic audience, I went crazy when Chris performed ‘Forever’ (waaaah wedding song ko yan!).

Anyways, after the concert, went straight to Hai (by foot). Palipas traffic and of course, super thirsty na kasi!! Maj and Kai followed. Concert aftermath chika and then one by one our friends had to leave na because of either work or school the following day. Kaloka naman kasing concert, dapat talaga Sunday eh noh?

Josie and the PussyKat poofed; Chill at Hai; Ziggurat with Maj and Kai;
Hai pic taken by poofed waitress

Anyhoo, Maj, Kai and I decided to move to Ziggurat for a couple more rounds and leftover chika. Left at around 6 in the morning with droopy eyes. I was home by 7 am.

waaah may work pa tomorrow!!

By 9:45 am, I was on my way to work.

Bum bum bee dum bum bum bee dum bum….

16 November 2008

It’s Mike and Grace’s big day. They’re getting married!! Stress galore for me since I didn’t have enough time to prepare outfit for said event. Well, very busy week for me at work, as in meetings and paperwork to death, so didn’t really have the time to shop for something I could wear to the wedding. I was supposed to wear one of the gowns in my closet, but since Ida decided to wear a dress na lang, and si Caron didn’t na din wear gown to the max, nag dress na lang din ang lola! Mabuti naman!!

Off we went to the wedding! Loved loved the flower arrangement sa chapel, in fairness. The quasi-garden wedding theme at Fernwood Gardens was perfect as everything seemed sweet and fresh. By the time Grace walked down the aisle, very emotional na the atmosphere. As in most of the guests shed tears. Well, I’m not a fan of crying so I didn’t cry, but I got emotional deep down. Yeah, may ganon. And in my head, I simply kept on asking myself, ‘nyets Katrina, will you ever get married?’ Anyhooch, Grace was super dooper lovely! Kudos to the one responsible for her make-up, super natural ng effect. As in fresh blooming bride ang eksena.

After the mass, Ida and I had to leave na for the Rihanna-Chris Brown concert. Ayan tuloy we didn’t have the time to attend the reception. At the very least, we had the chance to have pictures taken with the newlyweds.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Umali! :)

Baby Shower for Momsy!

15 November 2008

Simply can’t wait for Momsy to give birth to Tajito!! Hence, regardless of the crazy busy week that work laid down for me, still managed to coordinate with Lola Dev for the surprise baby shower that we wanted organize for Momsy! Yeah!!! In fairness, kahit busy ang dalawang lola, text and email to death ng proposals as regards food, guest list and program!

evidence that everyone enjoyed!

I think Dev and I did a pretty good job naman. Momsy was really surprised and the guests had fun especially with the games that we prepared (How well can you suck like a baby, Break up before the baby, baby cheerleading competition, etc.) Infairness, Momsy liked naman the gifts that we gave her during the shower. I was scared pa na baka magkaduplication ng gifts. Buti wala!! Well, excited na lahat for Tajito!!!!!

Momsy loving the gifts

To Mareng Dev, job well done! May alternative career na tayo! Cheers to us Lols!

A Not So Straight Weekend

8 November 2008

Coming from previous night’s Music Box shebang with Mother and Friends (Poma, Bej and Ida), I was ready for another South boarding experience with Lil Pok and Co.

pics from MB night

After initial rounds at Gweilos in Mall of Asia, we were able to convince The Larry and his bestfriend, GJ to go with us to the South. Yay! What we thought was a simple gulp night turned out to be a night of interesting chikahan topics. We were talking about animals as beings and why I find it hard dealing with them; why The Larry is crazy about ‘how I met your mother, and of course, considering the mix, we simply had to talk about sexual preferences. Lil Pok had so much to say about acceptance and being open about one’s true identity. We also had to discuss why sometimes it is better to be in a homosexual relationship than to be in a heterosexual relationship. Well, I couldn’t say much dahil pang heterosexual relationships lang naman ang kerri ng lola mo! Except of course I had to air out my sentiments about homosexuals always being targeted when it comes to topics concerning AIDS and other STI's (and why I think that whole scenario is a big bag full of crap). GJ and Larry naman talked about their friendship. Note: Larry is straight and GJ is gay. They are simply bestfriends. Period. (In fact, GJ has a boyfriend pa nga) Super cute. When I asked GJ how the friendship works, he simply joked about him having straight tendencies. Haha. He explained that he doesn’t have much gay friends. In fact, ang claim ni lola, everytime he’s surrounded by gay people, nagiging homophobic sha bigla! Cute!

Clockwise: Straight na si Lil Pok!; Guess who's gay--Larry and GJ; Proper usage of the word 'tomboy'--Cuz and Kat; Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy

Oh so basta, we'll all go to the pride parade. Though I'm straight, I'm an avid supporter!

Like most gimik days/nights, I got home from the shebang around 6 in the morning.

But unlike most of gimik days/nights, intellectually stimulating conversations were present in this not-so-straight night.

What About Bohol?

Aside from the initial drama/adventure, these are the things that made the Bohol trip super fun and memorable.

  1. The peace and quiet one can get from the beach. Not magulo like Bora. My 1 hour worth of cat nap felt like deep slumber for 5 good hours!

  1. Bohol Beach Club. Super laki ng resort. Picture taking to death.

  1. We had the best tour guide everrrr, Majesty Jala. She was not able to meet us up at the airport kse di nagising on time! Nagpakita na sha sa amin 8pm na!!

  1. The yummy dinner we had at Bohol Bee Farm! I miss the cabcab already!

  1. Accidental catching up with DJ at the airport! (tagal ng di nagpapakita ng lola. nag FA lang nawala nalang bigla)

  1. Steady inuman. Buying our drinks from the sari sari store! (Nasa akin pa ang deposito slip!)

  1. Baclayon church. The name still makes me smile. And of course, this conversation with Maj:

Trina: so why is this church special nga ulit?

Maj: kse oldest church ito in the Philippines.

Trina: how old is this church na ba?

Maj: as in tinayo sha before pa dumating dito ang mga Spaniards.

Trina: (confused and ready to burst into laughter if not for the fact that they were still inside the church)

  1. Poma’s obsession with his DSLR. That means I don’t have to take much pics and I get to be in most of the pics taken!

  1. I did my very best to be friendly with the Tarsiers. (di ko talaga kaya)

  1. The man-made forest!

  1. Partycrashing in Tagbilaran City. (party hosted by Maj’s friend, Pam)

  1. And of course, the best part of the trip…….CHOCOLATE HILLS!!!

Much thanks to Poma and Maj. Cheers to CH!

I had a blast!

Amazing Race to Bohol

Trina
from gimik, Poma from slumber..both on their way to NAIA Terminal 3! We got there at the same time. Amazing Race begins!

We realized it’s still a bit early to check in so we decided to hang out outside the airport to chat and smoke. Flight’s scheduled at 5:30am and it was just 4:00am. When we finally went inside the airport, the guard asked for our e-ticket. Mam, ang byaheng Tagbilaran po hindi dito. Sa NAIA Terminal 2 po ‘yan. Poma tried to verify with the ticketing section (for purposes of this kwento, let’s just call it that). NAIA Terminal 2 nga.

wrong pit stop!

Run. Run. Run. We need a cab! AArgghh..Amazing Race!!

We got to NAIA 2 around 4:40am. At the check-in counter, they asked for the credit card used to purchase the tickets or a photocopy of the same. I used my Tito’s credit card. I don’t have a photocopy. I’ve been flying and was never asked to present the card or photocopy of the card. And it’s way too early in the morning to ask my Tito to fax a copy of the card! I went to PAL office trying to reason out. (Although deep in my heart, I knew I can’t talaga argue! That policy is written on the e-ticket, tange!). And so, the plane left us. I couldn’t get a copy of the card. The next flight (8:00am) can accommodate us but we need to pay the fare difference. That was not okay with me and so I made THE calls (at 6:30am!!!). Much love to the people I called. Super. As in.

and so i took the last (and best) option remaining

Off to Bohol.

And I was still in my gimik clothes complete with accessories sheth!

Landed. Was calling up Maj (who was supposed to meet us up at the airport) but she didn't pick up! Poma and I decided to take a cab going to Bohol Beach Club.

Despite all the drama, we were both giddy still. We managed to laugh at what took place. Haha!

But really, kung Amazing Race talaga, wala na kaming aabutan sa Pit Stop!

And so we decided, we can (and will) never join!

Crazy Halloween

And so I got home from the Bridal Shower/Firm Party around 2 in the morning. I finished packing for my Bohol trip with Poma scheduled the following day at 5:30AM. Anyways, mother woke me up around 5AM because I promised I won’t fly to Bohol without visiting the cemetery. So there, I was at work na by 8:30, super record breaking!! Anyways, I was simply working the whole day. I had so much to do and kelangan matapos before ng Halloween gimik night with pok girls and boys!!

Ate Pok picked me up at the office around 9PM. Super making fun of me pa because super ko daw praning, dala ko na my luggage! Truth is, that’s the safest thing to do. I mean, ang hirap to get stuck in gimik tapos I’ve to hurry home to get my stuff and then go to airport for the early morning flight diba! So I brought na my luggage. From the G straight na to airport! Ate Pok can’t help but say, rockstar ka talaga sister!! Anyways, Little Pok promised naman na if Ate is too drunk to bring me to the airport, she’ll bring me.

Had dinner at Abe’s with Ate Pok Michelle, Lil Pok Kat, BJ, Cesar, Tang and Mikee. By then, Poma was texting me na, worried that I might autopilot my night away and forget about our flight. Haha. I was determined to just have fun and be sane enough to remember that plane leaves at 5:30am. After our dinner, we all headed to Cav for a couple of drinks. At Cav, chika chika lang ng issues with Ate Pok while naadik kami sa pagswipe ng cav card!! So many thanks to her for making me see things clearly!

swipe to death!!!

Some quasi-partycrashing happened after Cav. Michelle, Kat, Mikee and I went to Cream of Asparagus Party@Bel-Air. Wala lang. BJ kasi went there. We decided to check out for ourselves kung kamusta dun. Well, fun fun. Chill. Although I must admit, dun ako mejo nahilo hilo. Overflowing drinks! By then, I was already being makulit to Lil Pok. As in please don’t forget the time. Baka mailto ako sa oras. Anyways, we had to leave, because sila Cesar were waiting for us sa Embassy. Then Ponti. Then Fiamma. Then finally Isshin at 3AM(because super hungry na kami ni Michelle). Good thang, nakasunod pa si Carla!

Cream of Asparagus
Michelle, BJ, Kat and Mikee

Was done eating around 3:45. Poma called me upon waking up to make sure that I’m sane enough to remember that we’re meeting up at the airport. Super sane, as in! Anyways, Lil Pok brought me to the airport, thank you thank you! Sakto lang, sabay pa kami ni Poma, we got there at around 4am.

Halloween was major hectic, crazy and dooper fun!

But wait, wait, wait for the Bohol Adventure stories!!

Halloween/Bridal Shower

As mentioned in previous blog entry, I was tasked to organize Grace’s bridal shower. After all the stress and taranta, almost everything ready na. Invites..check! Budget…check! Victoria Court Austin Powers room…check! Program….check! Food orders….check! Drinks….check! One thing na lang, how do we make sure CGY attends her own shower? Background: Grace is the type kse na ayain mo sa gimik then she’ll say ok I’ll follow may daanan lang ako but she won’t show up. May mga ganyan at times. Basta bottomline, it’ll be difficult to make sure she attends a random gimik ekek. So anyways, as discussed with our managing partner, will make it appear na lang na we have an office Halloween party para she’ll go talaga. And anyways, fun din naman talaga to have everyone around during the shower (even the boys! para unique!). So ayan na!!! costumes…check! Bride….check!

Grace had no idea that it was a Halloween party/bridal shower! She was one of the people pa who got to the venue early ha. So talagang drama to death na Halloween party lang ang meron. Then during the program that’s when Caron and I (the emcees for the night) divulged the surprise!! She was really surprised! Yay!!!

with the bride

Games, fun, singing, drinking and some macho dancing from our messengers followed!! Good thang it was a blast! Everyone had super fun. Yay!

we wish you all the best!

And I found myself telling Ida….pucha, party planning ata ang calling ko ah!

party planner dressed as a delinquent school girl

Wednesday Is My New Monday

With all the shebang going on, I decided I have to penalize myself a bit. I used to be irritatingly responsible and disciplined. And lately, I’ve been noticing that I’m starting to lose control. Not the crazy kind of course. I think I’m too old for stuff like that. (Ok, not too old, so simply ‘old’ for stuff like that). My ‘starting to lose control’ means the following: Flying here and there; drinking again whenever wherever kahit Sundays sometimes (hello Ida, Cuz and Little Pok). Anyways, so I chose to chastise myself kahit konti lang. Sakto I had tons of work to do so I’ve tools for punishment.

I told myself ‘your week should start Wednesday afternoon’. As in from Monday until the pre-designated start of my week, it has to be all-work and no play! (Ohmy, I can’t believe while I’m writing this, I’m checking memory if I was able talaga to follow!!)

True enough, all work! I was super stressed. I have short attention span. I get bored easily. Boredom stresses me out! Work simply kept on pouring and I had no choice but to lay off social life a bit in order to fulfill my responsibility as an associate in the law firm (haha, may ganon pang drama!). And work was not simple work. Our managing partner also tasked me to organize a bridal shower for CGY, a fellow associate. Fun diba! But not so pala…imagine, I had roughly 3 days to prepare the shower. And imagine nalang, lawyer/party planner ang lola!! I was drafting legal memos etc. alongside chitchats and haggling with banquet specialists!

I was more than glad when Wednesday afternoon came. Trinagar had a meeting in my office so after said meeting, we met up with Jang. The three of us had lunch and made chika just like lawschool days. I miss those crazies so much. Come dinner time, I met up with Ida and Eliza. Catch up with Eliza since she’s been outta the loop since she entered law school.

I’m so glad my week started already! Hectic Fun has just begun!!!
