CAFE CENTRAL

We all needed a real break from work so instead of our usual ask-manang-siony-to-get-us-bananaQ-downstairs routine, Caron, Grace, Obet and I decided to get out of the office and have snack somewhere near. Well, they told me Café Central just opened a couple of weeks ago and maybe should go there for a change. Actually, they’ve been to the café (but I was absent that day so I wasn’t able to join in). Anyways, we originally planned to just have coffee, but since Grace and I didn’t eat much during lunch time, we also ordered food. Here’s what we had:

Trina—Carne norte penne with peas and sweet corn & pinacolada soda

Grace—Linguine in pesto cream sauce with pan-grilled chicken breast & iced tea

Caron—Penne in tomato-basil sauce with cottage cheese & yummy gummy soda

Obet—Chocolate cake & raspberry soda

Obet here withthe sodas

The carne norte penne was cream-based, and so I thought it’ll be really yummy bearing in mind that I’m a sucker for cream-based pasta and I consider corned beef as my comfort food. I was a bit disappointed though because I didn’t taste much of the cream. Simply corned beef through and through. Not that bad….but nothing fantabulous either. The Pinacolada-flavored soda, on the other hand, is a must try. It’s totally refreshing and they really got the pinacolada flavor right. Actually, I think all of their Italian sodas are good! Hihi. I took a sip from Caron’s drink, and yupyup, it’s really yummy gummy. As if I’m drinking a tutti-frutti gum!! Delish!

The Linguine was tasty. I actually wished I just ordered that instead of the carne norte penne. The cream sauce was really delicious and the chicken was evenly cooked so as not to contrast with the pesto sauce. I loved it! As regards the penne in tomato-basil sauce, it was okay too except you’ll be playing the find the cottage cheese game while eating. Hihi. When you order this, despite the really flavorful sauce, don’t expect too much cottage cheese in it.

I’ll have to say I might come back to Café Central when I’m in need of a real break from work. For those working in Makati (Paseo de Roxas-Valero area), you can visit the place to see for yourselves. Their Italian sodas cost Php 60 per glass and pasta ranges from Php 120 to Php 150. Oh, and for the coffee lovers, you get free cookies when you order coffee!

the carne norte one was really disappointing! the tomato-basil, di tipid sa sauce...tipid lang sa cheese. But mas gusto ko yung mga cream based ekek eh ala telefono.
